I saw what you did there...

I can tell that this was meant to be a joke.

Fortunately, I know a band who did the same thing, wich is to put the main theme at a more than anoying pitch and akward instruments to show that conformism applies to music too, and whoever strays from that path is shuned.

Unfortunately for them, it worked too well, and the band died, just like this song. I can see that, as opposite to what people think, you're somewhat talented in improvisation, and minus a few bad notes here and there, it's really not that bad.
Unfortunately, it's a cover, so I can't really give credit, and since it's MIDI, I can't say anything about your intonation.

Anyways, good job on whatever you did, including making my ears bleed!

Cheers,
Samuel Hébert

Pretty good...

...If you let aside the flagrant Santana rip-off. You gotta be a little more creative than that if you wanna shine at what you do. If you were in the real music industy, you could get sued for this.

Other than that, the quality is superb, I don't know if you recorded the organ, but I feel that it isn't a cheap VST'i or even a VST'i at all. Either way, good job with that.

The only detail I noticed about the whole thing, besides it being demos and all, is you aren't letting yourself go in the improvisation. I can definitelly tell that you're quite familiar with the instrument, and that you could do much more than you're showing in this piece!

Great work, next time, try to be a little bit more original!

Cheers,
Samuel Hébert

Erm... I swear I didn't even know what Santana was before you mentioned them... I just searched them and yeah, I do agree this is extremely similar... :(

But thanks for the review, I will take all of your advice on board! :)

Wrong category...

It's pretty good, except it shouldn't be in the classical category, rather classical rock or jazz...

Other than that, I heard a few mistakes, notably at the intro. I'm no guitar player, but I can see that this isn't as clean as it could be...
The arrangement is really great, differs from the original version, makes it so relaxing...

Great song!

Cheers,
Samuel Hébert

Brewbs responds:

You're right about the category. Idk what I was thinking when I said it was classical. I probably could get it cleaner if I would spend more than a 2 hours on it lol...
Thanks for the review(:

Pretty good...

The only MAJOR problem in this song is the 10 seconds before the 3 minutes mark. It completely destroys the song and simply doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Except for that great job. A trip around the world would barely be any better!

yeah. i know. that part just sort of snaked in there. it was one of those 'i have an idea' ideas that immediately i think 'that was a stupid idea' but i just moved on instead of getting rid of it. oh well. thanks for the review !

Awesome track

Really awesome to see how you manage to pass from one style to an other with such brio.
You really managed to get that progression going, and it's hard no to imagine the hero gaining in power.

We could maybe put it in a game we're making if it would be a bit longer...

sorohanro responds:

Thanks for the very nice review.
You can loop the track if you want to put it in a game :D

Not bad, but wrong category

Sorry, but it's the truth. Except for the snare entrance and the strings theme, this has nothing to do with classical music.

I understand that this is your first attempt with this kind of music, but you should try hearing other songs from the same category you're about to submit it to, just to see if it really is the right one.

Other than that, the song has a nice progression into it, but near the end, it stops to change and the theme gets a bit repetitive, wich, after a few listens, gets pretty anoying.

Think about changing that, put an ending and submit it in the good category next time and you're sure to get much better reviews!

Cheers,

Samuel Hébert

Great song!

It took me a while to realise your song was in 5/4, thought does it change to 3/4-5/4 at 1:36?

Anyways, the irregular time signature adds to the Pink Floydish feel. ;-)

Samuel Hébert

P.S.The ending kind of sounds like The Dark side of the Moon, don't you think?

sorohanro responds:

Thanx for review.
Actually the track is in the old 4/4 but the accents are changing (3+3+2) and that's making it seems to be 3/8 and 5/8. One of my favorite grooves.

I realized the "Pink Floydish feel" only when someone else pointed out in a review. Because of that I added a Hammond organ later (a virtual one).

Happy New Year !

Nice feel in there!

Nice use of keys in there!
I noted at least three, including blues and phrygian, if I'm correct.

BTW woodywhite, that's no Saxophone, that's a trumpet!-.-

Pretty good but too repetitive

You should make your own music instead of looping existing tracks though.

Really good, but...

Wrong category, I think it has a more Bossa Nova feel in there, I would put it somewhere closer to that gendre.
